Pet Travel
When relocating your pets interstate you have you have two options.
Option 1:
The Pets can be transported as freight on your behalf by OzPet Transport with either Qantas or Virgin Blue. One of our service professionals can organise
Airport to Airport or our
Door to Door service nationwide. Pets are transported in our air-conditioned vehicles in airline approved Pet Carriers. All pets receive a comfort stop prior to departure and upon arriving at their destination.
Option 2:
Your pets can travel with you as excess baggage. Both Virgin and Qantas allow one pet per passenger to travel as excess baggage (fees apply). Pets must be housed in an airline approved Pet Carriers. Pet Carriers are available for hire or can be purchased from OzPet. Airlines require animals to be delivered to the freight terminal 90 minutes prior to departure. If traveling with more than one pet it is always advisable to take your largest animal as excess baggage. OzPet can organise your other pets to travel with you on the same flight as freight at a discounted rate. Our customer service staff will be more than happy to help you with any queries you may have.
Moving is stressful enough for the owners, but for your pet moving can be a totally bewildering experience. OzPet can make the transportation of your pets a stress free process for both you and your pet.
Pickup and Delivery
OzPet pick up and deliver animals door to door nationwide. Please note that the timing of pickup and deliveries may vary depending upon your location and airline schedules. When you confirm your pets transport our staff will contact you to verify the information, confirm flight details and notify you of our estimated pickup and delivery times. Drivers call in advance to confirm their arrival and also notify the destination recipient in the same manner prior to delivery.
Pet Carriers:
All pets that travel with an airline are required to travel in an airline approved Pet Carrier. Dogs travel in either steel mesh crates (large dogs) or plastic pet carriers (smaller dogs). Cats, travel in plastic pet packs (they are ideal for use as beds, litter trays or hutches after the journey). There are several different sizes of Pet Carriers. When selecting a carrier it is important your pet is able to sit, stand, lie down and turn around easily. If using your own carrier it is a good idea to put your pet in your carrier prior to transport to make sure they haven't outgrown it if it has been some time since its last use.

Boarding Your Pet:
Boarding is one of the most important services OzPet provides. We understand that timing is not always perfect particularly when relocating interstate, so there are times when boarding your pet prior to, during or after your relocation is essential. To ensure your pet is as comfortable as possible during its relocation, OzPet can arrange for your pet to stay at some of the the best boarding facilities Australia has to offer.
Dogs
Dogs are highly adaptive animals and usually have absolutely no problems with air travel. Our trained staff treats each pet as an individual ensuring that your dog receives the personalised attention it deserves while in transit. Dogs travel in either steel mesh crates (large dogs) or plastic pet carriers (smaller dogs). All crates and pet carriers must be airline approved to ensure the safety of your pet during the flight. Make sure to let us know if your dog has any special needs, such as medication or other physical disabilities. Our qualified staff can accommodate all your dogs needs. Bedding is supplied for the transportation of dogs. If you require deluxe bedding a full range of snoozer bedding is available for purchase. If you are providing your own pet carrier, please ensure it is airline approved, and make sure your dog is able to sit, stand, lie down and turn around easily. It is a good idea to put your dog in your carrier prior to transport to make sure they haven't outgrown it if it has been some time since its last use. Crate and Pet Carriers are available for hire and sale.
Note: In rare circumstances your pet may require sedation for its trip. As a rule OzPet do not recommend this practice. If you feel your animal may need sedating please consult your vet and advise our staff. OzPet will not sedate any animal without owners and vet approval.
Cats
Cats are very perceptive animal and are able to sense change. For this reason it is a allways advisable to ensure your cat is contained in a secure place at least 12 hours prior to travel. Cats have been know to go missing at the first sign of a suit case. Our trained staff treats each pet as an individual ensuring that your cat receives the personalised attention it deserves while in transit. Cats, travel in plastic pet packs (they are ideal for use as beds, litter trays or hutches after the journey). All crates and pet packs must be airline approved to ensure the safety of your pet in flight. Make sure to let us know if your cat has any special needs, such as medication or other physical disabilities. Our qualified staff can accommodate all your cats needs. Birds
Birds may be transported in secure containers that are mostly covered. Nesting boxes with secured doors are recommended (inside a pet pack works well) or regular cages with blocking material (i.e. newspaper) covering the sides, and all doors and the base secured.
